The most recent portrait subject to be drawn from the hat (or tin) proved to be Don Ford, a sticker of whom appeared, as a member of the selection representing Scotland, in the FKS ‘Wonderful World of Soccer Stars World Cup 1974’ collectors’ album (which image-object serves as the original source for the drawing, processed with immediate visual reference to an enlarged, degraded image-quality monochrome photocopy of), & who was subsequently chosen for the official 22-man Scottish squad for the finals, although he went on to play no part in any of the Scots’ three matches the tournament itself, thus inevitably being another of the ‘unknowns’ to me of those participating (or not) in the ’74 World Cup, the original sticker/album & subsequent 're-mediated' drawing thus serving as hauntological preservative.
