Light Interlude

graphite & watercolour/30x20cm

Sometimes something just catches one's eye, urging to be recorded, represented: in this case in point, the 'something' was the burst of vivid, glowing yellow reflected between & upon, illuminating, the pale, creamy skins of each of the pears (& particularly the object to the left of the pair) as they came to be composed in such proximity to one another, viewed contre jour in the habitual manner.
Given such, a simplified approach, eschewing the surrounding environmental 'envelope', was applied in the interests of concentrating upon such a fleeting feature.

Its so good to see the pears are back. Its very reassuring in such uncertain times. And now there are two pears. I think this is no accident, they seem focused on each other´s "pear-ness" with their stalks like little speech bubbles. They make me happy to see.

Thank you, lovely to hear from you & much appreciated - I love your interpretation :-)

Hope you are & all is well. Five weeks on, I now owe you an even bigger & event-filled email...

The thing is, the pears never really go away for very long, do they? We found some gorgeous coppery-skinned ones in Tesco, but I'm not sure they're the requisite shape for modelling purposes (bit too tall & skinny!)...

Love & hugs,

J x
