World Cup '74 Portrait #17 (Jovan Acimovic: Yugoslavia)

Today the opposite of tomato is 'A Song From Under the Floorboards'

graphite & putty eraser, with watercolour pencil/30x21cm

The latest portrait subject in the drawing project, from a randomly-generated original source image (to replicate the experience of the sticker-collecting itself), is Jovan Aćimović, who was represented in both the FKS & Panini ‘World Cup ‘74’ sticker albums, & went on to be selected for the official Yugoslavia squad for the tournament, where he played the entirety of all 6 of his country’s first & second round group matches, although this fact passed my young self by at the time & remained unknown until now, rendering Aćimović another of the great majority of the Finals’ ‘ghosts’, for all his active participation, hauntologically preserved within the pages of the stamp album &, subsequently, via the ‘re-mediated’ drawing process.
