Today marks the 10th anniversary of the first tentative explorations into cyberspace of the blog, originally titled ‘The Life Aesthetic…’ with the intention of musing upon & recording such subjects as might be appropriate to the living of, that has evolved into ‘The Opposite of Tomato’ & the point we are at creatively, suitably immersed & influenced, today.
Given such a momentous occasion, it is of course only right & proper, perhaps, that we should take stock & celebrate with a game of tennis with Richie Tenenbaum in a tent in Tenby, but, instead, the morning has been spent productively in the bringing to a conclusion the latest painting, this time featuring as subject/object matter another pair of yellow-skinned pears sourced by the very wonderful A, adding slightly more colour to recent proceedings, this painting again processed across two sessions, the medium thickly & rapidly applied in the interests of achieving a more tactile, ‘immediate’ surface & imbuing the painting itself with a more ‘object-like’ quality, described by light as, of course, are the forms represented within, thus setting-up a particular visual ‘dialogue’.
