The latest subject features Luis Ubinas, a sticker of whom was included
in the FKS ‘Wonderful World of Soccer Stars World Cup 1974’ collectors’ album
but who subsequently failed to gain selection for the Uruguay squad for the
Finals, thus rendering him one of those particular ‘ghosts’ of the tournament,
present yet absent (or vice versa), although he had a considerable World Cup
pedigree, having represented Uruguay in all of their matches (4 & 6
respectively) at both the preceding 1966 & 1970 series. Luis Ubinas passed away in July of 2013.
